Yoga Day excitement builds up in Lithuania

Around 13 cities in Lithuania [listed below] will celebrate International Day of Yoga with similar events, demonstrating the love Lithuania has for yoga.  Some 35 yoga schools in Lithuania have been quietly teaching and propagating yoga over the years.

In his message India’s Ambassador to Poland and Lithuania, Mr. Ajay Bisaria said there is the global connection of the event in Lithuania.  He recalled that a resolution to celebrate IDY was co-sponsored by 177 countries of the UN in December 2014, after India made a request to declare such a day.  He stated that yoga was beyond religion and the message of this day was that the world was one family, Vasudeva Kutumbkum; the event was aimed for peace within the individual and for peace in the world.  He pointed out that yoga had wide support among people of different faiths and that the event would be celebrated in 250 cities in 192 countries.  The Ambassador expressed his confidence that yoga on such a large scale would nudge the planet towards greater peace and harmony.  He congratulated the volunteers and organising committee which had prepared events in Lithuania  with passion and dedication.  He thanked the Mayor of Vilnius and his immediate predecessor for having given utmost support in not only placing a superb location in Vilnius but for having given all help. He also conveyed his thanks to H.E. Mr. Laimonas Talat-Kelpša, the Ambassador of Lithuania to India for graciously agreeing to be the chief guest.

Wing Commander (Retired) Rajinder Kumar Chaudhary, the Honorary Consul of India to Lithuania, has paid highest tributes to the Sponsors, Vilnius Municipality Visuomenės sveikatos biuras, UAB „Orion Global Pet“, UAB “Augma”, A&Z Import and Export Company, UAB “Elmera” and VŠĮ “Sveikas miestas”, and very many of their willing officials for untiring efforts in getting this historic event to the final inspite of the shortage of time. He is also grateful to the people of Lithuania for having shown tremendous response with their enthusiasm.
